The Creative Fund and I, A Year Later
As many of you know, I’ve worked hard over the past year chairing a brand new non-profit called The Creative Fund.
If you aren’t familiar just yet, The Creative Fund (TCF) is a collective group of like-minded, arts-focused, passionate individuals coming together to support emerging and innovative arts in Austin. Under the umbrella of the Austin Creative Alliance, TCF serves as a funding mechanism filling a financial gap that currently exists within Austin’s creative culture by subsidizing rental fees and offering other creative support to local artists.
With the help of an amazing board and in less than a year, we’ve successfully raised the money to subsidize rental costs for ten local performing arts companies and we’ve done that solely through our membership dollars.
I’m so proud of organization and what we’ve accomplished. I’m so proud of our very dedicated board. I’m so proud of our members who see the need for our program and are compelled to help. And of course, I’m so very proud of our corporate support to date; Life Size, Maxwell Locke and Ritter, Gracy Title, The Susan Nelms Team at United Lending, and of course Keller Williams own “Scott In ATX”.
Tonight, The Creative Fund will celebrate the first ten companies receiving our grants at our inaugural signature event, Through The Looking Glass, on the stunning grounds at Laguna Gloria. Will you join us?
Enjoy special pop-up performances from our Q Rental Subsidy Grant winners including: Generic Ensemble Company, Glass Half Full Theatre, Kathy Dunn Hamrick Dance Co., Palindrome Theatre and Poison Apple Initiative Theatre. Music by Texas Pro DJ.
Bites from Roll-on Sushi, Polka-dots Cupcake Factory and drinks from Magners Irish Cider, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Saint Arnold’s Brewing Company, Triangle Liquor and a tasty signature drink Recess Arcade Bar.
Please join us tonight and learn how you can help us support Austin’s performing arts community!
